When do a People Lose their Right to Self-government? – KTH

It has become increasingly difficult to recognize the existence of Palestinain governance as it becomes more and more known that a plethora of their citizens wish to inflict terrorism on Israel.

It is one thing to be fighting against military targets and police forces, but murdering, raping, and kidnapping innocent civilians from their cars, houses, market places, and elsewhere like music festivals is not legitimate according to any laws.

Furthermore, nor is it legitimate for a religion to be advocating for this terrorism from the minartes of many mosques. This is very unholy.

Yet, it would not be even this bad, if it were not for the reactions of pro-Palestinians across the globe.

First off, in the Gaza Strip, we have had the cases of Palestinians parading dead bodies of Israelis around their city.

Secondly, we have had leading political leaders of Hamas showing videos of themselves advocating for this terrorism and then praying afterwards, suggesting this is the Islamic thing to do.

Third, we have had Palestinians overseas parading in town squares to celebrate these massacres including in Berlin, London, Barcelona, New York City, and many more.

Yet, on the other hand, Israel still continues to settle on land that according to international law, belongs to Palestine. They continue to break up the contiguous territory of the people of Palestine creating a sense of desperation in the Palestinian people and because the UAE and other Israeli-friendly nations have not stopped Israel yet, the Palestinian people are turning to those that will: terrorists.

And, as a response, Israel will strike with full force.

Therefore, in order to keep peace, here are the best suggestions:

1. USA takes over occupation of Palestine removing Israeli settlements, but Palestine not being able to be a proper self-governing country for over 30 years/2055. In other words, Palestine becomes a UN trust territory under the USA. This would give Israel more of a reason to let go of their settlements knowing the USA was controlling Palestine to stop terrorism. Palestine would get their chance to finally have land for Palestinians only, getting rid of the Israeli settlements, and their levels of income will surely rise. This needs to be approved by all parties in the region, and may need cooperation by Iran, but especially by Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and others like Jordan. If the USA does a good job, it will help the USA in the region too, a missed opportunity the USA suffered from 2000-2021.

2. The UAE takes over Jordan’s role as an occupying force and Palestine becomes a UN trust territory of the UAE, with Israeli settlements being removed! The UAE specializes in providing good environments for Christian worship, Jewish worship, and is very good at de-radicalizing Islamic worship. The UAE is a key fighter against Islamic terrorism and they are Arab and Muslim, the majority of Palestine’s people. The main issue with the UAE is they sometimes lack upward mobility in their economy for non-European, East Asian, Emirati, or North American people.

3. Another Christian country should take over Palestine as a UN trust territory that is strong and big enough to fight terrorism, but trusted enough to create enduring peace and rising incomes that can give Israel enough reassurances to get rid of their settlements. I am thinking potentially of Portugal, Italy Spain, France, or the UK and Ireland. The reasons for this are simple.

Portugal are liked in the Muslim world and Ronaldo who is the face of Portugal is a renowned pro-Palestine figure. Portugal is very open to its Jewish population following their recent laws to re-incorporate their Sephardic Jewish population, so they have good relations with Israel too. The only issue is Portugal may not be strong enough alone to fight terrorism or economically well off enough to create positive economic change. However, they are good in the tourist sector and that would play well for Palestine.

Italy are conservative enough to be trusted to fight terrorism and not lean into political correctness academia will wage at it. Italy would not be Palestine’s first choice, but Italy cares so much about Christianity first, that it will play well into the likes of Arab Christians, and their brand of European plays well into Arab culture. Italy are big enough to do this, but corrupt enough to create other problems in Palestine. There is a fond relationship between Italians and Palestinians many are unaware exists.

Spain under a conservative government would be trusted by Israel, but under a socialist/social democratic government probably will not be. Ireland has similar issues, but Spain is larger hence why Spain would be a better option. Spain has done a good job infiltrating their own terror groups and posses enough alliances to help it govern Palestine successfully. If it is a conservative Spanish culture introduced, the Arab Christians and Muslims will respect Spanish rule.

France would be a very good choice because it is strong, unafraid to ruffle feathers, and would be trusted by Israel to stop Palesitian terror. The only problem with France is its lack of respect for religion may pose a threat to its governance if they import their version of separation of Church and State to Jerusalem and other mixed holy sites. In the end, France may not have the sensibilities to govern this area.

The last suggestion would be a combined British and Irish force to govern Palestine. Ireland are best friends with Palestine and the UK are best friends with Israel. Together, both countries can use their expertise to help raise the living standards of Palestine and help fight terrorism. This would also help both countries with their own relations, and given the complexities of Northern Ireland, both are equipped with the sensibilities to govern Palestine and to lessen the encroachment of Israeli settlements. It is more common for one country to take over in a UN trust territory, but multiple also can.

The reasons Palestine would agree to this is because if Palestianians truly do want a peaceful land and better living standards, this is their only way. They must demonstrate to Israel and the international community that they can successfully exist without being a threat to world security.

As many may know, the Palestinian struggle is both Arab Muslim and Arab Christian so either religion can help lead Palestine to better pastures. The only problem for Muslim nations is that many are very unproven for being against terrorism, by either the people living there or the government. Only the UAE is known to have both people and government in fighting terrorism, as well as smaller Muslim states like Kosovo and Albania. Kosovo or Albania would be great choices in running Palestine for their equal treatment of Muslims and Christians, but both are smaller and need to focus on their own borders right now.

These are the three solutions that can help save Palestinians from Israeli onslaught.

But, if Palestine does not agree to give up their sovereignty temporarily to another power, they will continue to give up sovereignty to Israel.

*Notes: Israel does not indiscriminately kill civilians and will give warnings when they plan military operations that might inflict civilian harm. The reason for this is because this is the legal way, and also because representatives of Palestine illegally place civilians and military installations in the same buildings to create human shields. Israel did not initiate conflict, the Arab alliance and Palestinians did on multiple occasions, leading to a reduction in land controlled by Palestine because they not only initiated the wars but lost too. This has led to Isreal encouraging the settlements to weaken Palestine. However, Israel stopped doing so in the Gaza Strip and removed Jewish people, giving Palestine full self-governance. Since this point, the Gaza Strip Palestinians have elected the terrorist group Hamas into power and have used aid and other resources to build up terror reserves. This has led Israelis to believe they cannot allow a West Bank without Israeli settlements or control too, hence why another force is needed to control Palestine or the status quo will continue.
