Gege Akutami’s original Jujutsu Kaisen story ended with the release of Chapter 271 back in 2024. However, back then, Gege wasn’t quite done with the universe that he established with immense care. That is precisely why the author returned one more time with a new story set 68 years after the events of the Sukuna Raid, which focused on a completely new generation of sorcerers.
If there was one constant in this era, compared to the last story, it was the former main character, Yuji Itadori. Yuji was our main character to follow in the original Jujutsu Kaisen series, and he was still incredibly important in Modulo as well. By reintroducing him in Modulo and showcasing his new powers, Gege Akutami confirmed that Yuji has received a new awakening in the blank period, pushing his overall strength to a completely new level.
Gege Akutami’s New Yuji Awakening Grants Him 2 Fully Mastered Cursed Techniques
In the original Jujutsu Kaisen series, Yuji Itadori was shown becoming a sorcerer without even having a Cursed Technique. Yuji’s team consisted of four powerful sorcerers: Gojo Satoru, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, and Yuji himself. Out of these four, only Yuji did not have access to any Cursed Technique. Gojo had his famed Limitless, while Nobara had the Straw Doll Technique, and Megumi Fushiguro had the prized possession of the Zenin Clan, known as the Ten Shadows Technique.
Yuji Itadori primarily relied on Divergent Fist, which wasn’t a Cursed Technique but simply an application of Cursed Energy. However, all this changed in the last arc of the story. In this arc, Yuji Itadori was given access to a rudimentary form of Blood Manipulation at first, which he gained access to after consuming Death Paintings 4 to 9.

Later down the line, Yuji, with a powerful Black Flash, tapped into his latent Cursed Technique, that is, the Shrine. Once again, back then, Yuji’s control over the Shrine was rudimentary. While he still managed to defeat Sukuna, Yuji was far from reaching his full potential, and that is where JJK Modulo comes in.
In the last volume of JJK Modulo, which was officially released on May 1, 2026, Gege Akutami unleashed the full power of Yuji Itadori and showed us a brand-new awakening for him. With his peak powers, Yuji was able to tap into two fully mastered Cursed Techniques, those being Blood Manipulation and Shrine. In Modulo chapter 19, which was published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 9 of 2026, Yuji Itadori was able to tap into fully mastered Blood Manipulation for the very first time and show a level of skill that no Blood Manipulation user had ever done before. He was able to create multiple arrowheads made of his own blood and pierce a building full of sorcerers, defeating them in the blink of an eye.

Then, Yuji unleashed Shrine for the very first time in the Modulo era and produced a powerful Dismantle so big that it dwarfed anything Sukuna had ever produced with his technique. Given Yuji’s physiognomy as a mix of cursed spirit and human, he is now a unique being whose powers far surpass those of regular humans, and he stands as the strongest as well.

Yuji’s New Awakened Power Grants Him Two Domain Expansion Sure Hits
While Yuji Itadori’s full mastery over two different Cursed Techniques already stood as a powerful awakening for him, what truly stands out as his greatest new upgrade in the Modulo era is the ability to have two different sure hits as part of his domain. Yuji Itadori’s Domain Expansion is incredibly special, and it was first revealed to us at the end of the original JJK series in chapter 264, which was officially released on July 29, 2024, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #35.
In this chapter, Yuji’s domain was shown to be a place very beloved to him, and in the end, he hit a very powerful Sure Hit Dismantle at Sukuna’s soul. Back then, Yuji had only learned to properly control a portion of his Shrine, which is why his domain was still half-baked. Now, as an adult, Yuji has access to two perfectly mastered Cursed Techniques, which means that inside his domain, he can use either technique as his sure hit. Yuji can either use the powerful Shrine and unleash something akin to a Malevolent Shrine like Ryomen Sukuna, or he can imbue his domain with the Cursed Technique of Blood Manipulation and create a powerful Blood Domain, the likes of which have never been seen before. There is nothing that restricts Yuji Itadori from pulling off this inside his domain, and by doing so, he truly becomes a sorcerer who stands in a completely different realm.

Yuji Has Mastered The Black Flash
If these two unique awakenings weren’t enough, then Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, added yet another special awakening to Yuji Itadori, which made him far greater than any other sorcerer in existence, and this came through the power of Black Flash. Yuji already had an affinity for Black Flash right from the very beginning of the series. However, in Modulo Chapter 19, it was officially confirmed that Yuji Itadori has the capability of hitting a Black Flash at will. Yuji was seen fully controlling cursed energy to a point where he could create a Black Flash and essentially take down his enemies in a single hit. By gaining this ability, he has become the absolute strongest sorcerer of all time, even above the likes of Gojo and Sukuna.

Unfortunately, Yuji was not given an opportunity to go all out in the Modulo series. Even his battle against Mahito was short-lived, and while the battle against Dabura was hyped up by the author, it never ended up happening. If Gege Akutami does ever return to Jujutsu Kaisen and expand the series even further, which is entirely possible given the open ending, then we surely hope that he finally gives Yuji an opportunity to go all out and show what he is all about in combat.
