Blizzard has officially confirmed that it isn’t planning any new Diablo 4 expansions in the future, leaving Lord of Hatred as the last one. The news brings about the end of a three-year era for Diablo 4, beginning with the game’s release in June 2023.
Since Diablo 4‘s release over three years ago, Blizzard has released two expansions. The first, Vessel of Hatred, was released in 2024, before Lord of Hatred launched earlier this year to critical acclaim. While Lord of Hatred did mark the end of the Age of Hatred story arc, most assumed that Blizzard would begin a new storyline with future expansions, which now seem like they won’t come to fruition.
Blizzard Isn’t Planning Any New Diablo 4 Expansions
Speaking to PC Gamer at BlizzCon 2026, Diablo game director Brent Gibson confirmed that while Diablo 4 Seasons will continue, Blizzard is not planning to release any more fully-fledged expansions for the game. “We’re all focused on [Diablo 4] seasons and getting to Diablo 5,” Gibson explained. “We feel like we told the Story of Hatred. We had a great conclusion with Lord of Hatred with what we have with Mephisto, and we are moving towards telling the Story of Terror.”

As part of Diablo 5‘s surprise announcement at BlizzCon, Blizzard revealed that the game would take place 100 years in the future, after Diablo has conquered Sanctuary. The road to this, while not planned for a new Diablo 4 expansion, will still be something Blizzard explores in future seasonal storylines. “The events of Diablo 5 happen 100 years after everything that’s happening with Diablo 4, and so that gives us a lot of room to kind of still ride the wave with all the fans on where the story can go as we make our way there,” Gibson said. “So continuity is something that we’re really excited about, but we don’t necessarily have a perfect picture on exactly where that’s going to go because we want to see how fans are reacting season to season.”

The news that Diablo 4 expansions are seemingly done will disappoint many. Given the 11 years between Diablo 3 and 4, most expected the gap between titles to be longer than the planned six years between Diablo 4 and its upcoming sequel. As a result, it would not have been unreasonable to expect at least another expansion in its lifespan, but that now doesn’t appear to be the case.
Very little is known about Diablo 5 at this time, and with three years to go until its release, there’s plenty of time for Blizzard to reveal all the exciting details about the game. The developer didn’t just leave fans hanging on the announcement, though, also giving them a look at the first Diablo 5 classes, including two returning favorites and one that is completely brand-new.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
