2025 Gotham Awards Breakthrough Comedy Series Odds, Prediction, and Pick

Seth Rogen’s The Studio (-200) is the odds-on favorite to win the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Comedy Series. As a -200 favorite, The Studio has a 66.7% implied chance to capture the award.

However, I see this as more of a toss-up with English Teacher, which has received rave reviews online. FX’s new hit show starring Brian Jordan Alvarez and Stephanie Koenig has the potential to make big waves during awards season.

English Teacher follows Evan Marquez, a high school teacher who attempts to balance his personal life with teaching and students’ parents. It’s a comedic look into life as a high school teacher in Austin, TX.

While comparisons to Abbott Elementary are too easy to make, English Teacher provides a different perspective through the eyes of Marquez. While I appreciate Rogen’s work on The Studio, which is on pace to win awards this year, I’m giving the nod to English Teacher at the fantastic price of +250.

English Teacher notched a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 98% and a strong rating of 83% on Metacritic. Both scores edge out The Studio’s reviews. In short, English Teacher is one of the best Gotham Awards betting picks you can make this year!

The Pitt (-475) is in the driver’s seat to win the best Breakthrough Drama Series award. The medical drama starring Noah Wyle on Max is well out ahead of the competition, and I have to agree with the betting odds for the Gotham Awards here.

The drama centers around Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, an ER doctor at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. With each episode providing a snapshot of a 15-hour shift in the ER, it’s an easy-to-follow series that makes easy joining at any point in the season.

It does make viewers think back to John Carter on ER! While The Pitt may make ER fans yearn for the good days of yesteryear, it does a great job of depicting a busy Emergency Room at a hospital.

The Pitt sports an outstanding rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season. Look for the awards to pour in for The Pitt, so it appears easily in line to win the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Drama Series.

Although there isn’t great value at -475, I’m confident The Pitt is the winner of this prestigious category!

Netflix’s Adolescence is in a category of its own for Breakthrough Limited Series! As the most promising TV series at the Gotham Awards in 2025, it goes without saying that Adolescence is ready to be crowned.

The show is an enthralling limited series that follows the story of a 13-year-old, Jamie Miller, portrayed by Owen Cooper, arrested for the murder of a female classmate. The four-part limited series focuses on the ups and downs as a family, therapist, and detective navigate through the shocking murder.

Directed by Philip Barantini, he is going to have to free up some space on his trophy mantle. Barantini and the cast are in a fantastic position to clean up during awards season! Not just the Gotham Awards, but I anticipate that Adolescence will score at the Emmys, too.

As one of the top Gotham TV Awards predictions, Adolescence will clear the field easily for Breakthrough Limited Series. That being said, -700 odds offer little value to bettors on this wager. Include it in a parlay bet if you desire, but as a straight bet, there isn’t much reason at -700.
